How long does it take to get a NEBOSH qualification?

The short answer is that it depends on the course, and it depends on you. However, as a general rule, a certificate would normally take about two weeks full time, or three to six months if you’re studying via e-learning.

A diploma can take anywhere from nine months to several years. Typically the National Diploma is undertaken as either a eighteen month or three year study period, but you have up to five years to complete the qualification and many learners spread their course over this time. The diploma uses a combination between classroom taught content and self-study completed at home, so it is often down to how much time each individual can put towards the course, and how familiar they are with completing academic self-study. The course is degree level so it is perfectly normal for it to take three or more years.

Is there any financial help available for adult NEBOSH learners?

At the moment, NEBOSH learners over the age of 19 are not eligible for financial help through the ESFA, although it is worth checking your national or regional careers services. If you are employed it is worth discussing funding with your employer.

Both courses are very similar, focusing on the general health and safety issues, effective risk management and practical application skills. The International certificate, however, also covers international health and safety issues and standards.
