Course Outline
This Level 3 qualification is accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), and is the industry standard for first aid in the workplace.
Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a first-aider in the workplace. This First aid at Work course includes the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to an extensive range of specific injuries and illnesses. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981 (Appendix 5 Content of a First Aid at Work (FAW) course).
The aim of the course is to equip learners with the knowledge they need to respond effectively to emergency situations in the workplace and provide support until professional medical help arrives.
Designed For
This course is delivered over three consecutive days and is suitable for all workplaces, including more high-risk workplaces such as manufacturing, construction, and engineering.
This course is also beneficial for workplaces that have employees with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and anaphylaxis.
On completion of this course, the learner will be qualified to act as a first-aider in their workplace.
Content
This course contains all the same content found on the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course, as well as topics such as:
- Injuries to bones, joints, and muscles
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- Major illnesses such as a heart attack, stroke, and epilepsy
- Amputation and heavy bleeding
- Extended CPR training, including use of a face shield
- Suspected head and spinal injuries
Assessment
You will be assessed through ongoing practical assessments with a final end point assessment.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
