Course Outline
Accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), this widely recognised 1-day course is developed in line with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a first aider in the workplace. This Emergency First Aid at Work course may be more suitable whereby a needs assessment has identified a low-risk work environment. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (Appendix 6 Content of an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course).
The aim of the course is to equip learners with the knowledge and understanding required to respond quickly and confidently to illness and injury and recognise when professional help is needed.
Designed For
This 1-day course is designed for those who want to receive training in emergency first aid and become qualified to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is designed for low-risk work environments such as offices and retail spaces.
Content
The course covers basic life-saving and first aid skills such as:
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Recording incidents and actions
- Treatment of unconscious casualties, including seizures
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Safe use of automated defibrillator
- Treatment of choking, wounds, bleeding, shock
- Treatment of minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, minor burns etc.
Assessment
Continuous assessment by trainer.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
