DWP announce new code to curb unnecessary council checks

DWP announce new code to curb unnecessary council checks

Local Authorities are banned from carrying out unnecessary health and safety inspections under a new code that came into effect on 29th May 2013.

Proactive Local authority inspections are to be targeted on higher risk activities.  It is expected that tens of thousands of businesses will be removed from inspections, including most offices and shops.

Minister for Employment Mark Hoban said:

“We need health and safety that protects people where there are real risks but doesn’t stifle businesses.”
