The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is a one-day, Level 1 health and safety course for those working in construction or civil engineering, and anyone looking to get into a career in these industries.

This course has been designed to provide you with all of the knowledge that you need in order to work safely on site, and to keep others safe.

Completing this course is the first step towards obtaining a CSCS Labourer’s Card (Green Card).

Want to know more about obtaining a CSCS Labourer’s Card? Download our PDF which explains the process.

Our classroom course is taught at Stoke on Trent and Stourbridge venues by expert tutors who have experience in health and safety, construction and teaching. The course is interactive, tutor-led and engaging.

What will I learn?

The health and safety awareness course provides you with an understanding of:

  • Common hazards on site
  • Why preventing accidents is important
  • Health and safety law that applies to you
  • Where you fit into the control and management of a site
  • Risk assessing and method statements
  • Working safely and asking for advice
  • How to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

Why take this health and safety course?

To obtain a CSCS card
Some employers and sites will require you to have a valid and in-date CSCS labourer’s Card (or Green Card) before you will even be allowed on site.

To go home safe at the end of the day
Understanding what can go wrong on a site is half of the battle when it comes to staying safe and healthy on site. This short, 1-day course is a great way to provide you key information which, when paired with a site induction, will keep you safe at work.

Why choose ACT?

Our venue is located in the West Midlands and has easy access via multiple A roads. There is plenty of parking available within walking distance and we are only around 30 minutes by train or car from Birmingham.
We’re accredited by CITB to deliver this course and we have been delivering health and safety training since 1991.

Interested in progressing further?

If you’re interested in progressing further in your career within the construction or civil engineering industries, you may want to consider either a Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme course or a Site Managers Safety Training Scheme course.
These courses do what they say on the tin, and provide a higher level of knowledge for a higher level of responsibility. The Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme is a two-day supervisor’s course that will help you to understand your role as a supervisor and the steps you need to take to keep your team safe on site.
The Site Managers Safety Training Scheme is a five-day management course that helps site managers and project managers to understand the key issues that they will face in regards to health and safety, legislation relevant to their job and effective risk assessment and communication.
