How do NEBOSH Certificate Courses work as Virtual Classrooms?

Nebosh By Matthew Coombes

The coronavirus pandemic has thrown up a lot of challenges over the past six months – a capacity limit on gatherings has challenged a lot of businesses to think on their feet and come up with a way to deliver products and services to clients safely, without compromising on quality.
At ACT, we’ve been working hard to get our training out to those that need it, developing new and exciting ways to deliver the same high quality training that’s safe and convenient for everyone involved.
We’ve found great success with offering courses via our brand new Virtual Classrooms, taught over video conferencing platforms like Zoom.

So what makes a virtual classroom course successful?

Our virtual classroom courses are centered on the cooperative experience that you would typically encounter while learning in a room with others. We’ve taken what we know about classroom teaching and moved it online, then added in our full E-learning course to ensure that you have everything that you need in order to complete a NEBOSH certificate course.
All of our NEBOSH certified virtual classroom courses include:

  • An expert tutor to lead you through the syllabus – All of our NEBOSH course tutors are experienced both in the field of health and safety, and as teachers of the NEBOSH course materials.
  • The opportunity to learn with peers – An essential component to creating a productive learning environment is to have people to work alongside. The virtual classroom course provides the opportunity to work through exercises, have discussions and to share real life applications and experience of the subjects. All of these aspects work together to bring the syllabus to life.
  • Time to ask questions – Learning is always a process of development, and part of developing your understanding is asking questions. Having an experienced tutor on hand to answer any questions that you may have is an invaluable tool. You can draw on their knowledge, and experience, they can help you apply your new knowledge to your everyday work life, to provide additional context to what you are learning.
  • Study Materials – Along with the full e-learning course filled with interactive exercises, practice questions, videos and other resources, you are provided with workbooks that you will use throughout the course. Our RMS Publishing study books are a valuable tool for self-directed study. They are created by experts in health and safety, and follow the NEBOSH syllabus closely, providing examples, images, references, useful resources, revision checklists and more.

Whether you’re completing health and safety training online, or in a traditional classroom, there is always extra reading to be done outside of the taught hours. For the classroom course it is recommended that you complete over 40 hours of self-directed study. The risk assessment unit across all three NEBOSH certificates  (NG2 for the general, FC2 for fire, and NCC2 for construction) is self-directed, and is an application of your knowledge to your workplace, so the time that it takes to complete can differ per person. If you feel that you would benefit from some extra support in conducting your risk assessment, you can purchase a tutor-led tutorial day to take place over Zoom.

If you would like to find out more about our virtual classroom courses, the best thing that you can do is get in contact with one of our course advisors. Our course advisors can talk you through the course schedule, and answer any questions that you may have.
