iAS Internal Environmental Auditor

Internal auditing is an essential element of a successful Environmental Management System (EMS).  This 2 day iAS accredited course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills required to assess the conformance of parts of an organisation's environmental management system against ISO 14001:2015.

It is aimed at those with responsibility for carrying out internal audits to meet the requirements of ISO 14001. This practical course provides an opportunity for delegates to carry out an environmental audit and associated reporting.

Designed for

The iAS Internal Environmental Auditor ISO 14001 course is designed for those wishing to understand and apply the principles and techniques that are required for conducting effective environmental audits within their own organisation.  No prior EMS, auditing or environmental management experience is necessary, therefore the course will be suitable for:

  • Those with no experience of EMS auditing who are developing new skills
  • Those that have experience and wish to formalise their knowledge and ability.
  • Those involved in the EMS internal audit process, for example to organise audits and manage the actions arising from them.
  • Managers from organisations that are in the process of implementing an environmental management system.
  • It may also be useful for those who are required to audit the EMS of suppliers or potential suppliers.

Outline

Internal auditors need to be sufficiently competent to assess the EMS effectively if the organisation is to have confidence that it is achieving its objectives.  This course enables delegates to perform an internal audit of part of a management system and report on how effectively its implementation has been, as well as actions necessary for its maintenance and improvements.

Delegates are expected to have a basic understanding of environmental issues and will find possession of outline knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 “Environmental management systems” standard helpful.  The course does not require delegates to have prior experience of auditing.
