Outline

This course is designed to give participants an understanding of the types and sizes of fires, the appropriate use of fire extinguishers and the dangers of tackling a fire.

Aims and Objectives

It gives delegates:

  • An understanding of how an extinguisher works.
  • Increased confidence in handling the weight, action and noise of a fire extinguisher.
  • Real flame experience where circumstances permit using clean and safe propane fuelled training rig.
  • Hands on Fire Extinguisher experience.

  • Classifications of fire.
  • The chemistry of fire.
  • How to identify fire extinguishers.
  • How to select the appropriate extinguisher for different types of fire.
  • How fire extinguishers work.
  • Practical demonstration.
