NEBOSH International Tech Certificate In Oil And Gas

The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety builds on the general understanding of health and safety gained from studying other certificate level awards and is designed specifically for those with safety responsibilities in the oil and gas industry.  It highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry and focuses on management systems and international standards, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore.

To study the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate delegates will need a good understanding of general safety issues.  This can be from practical experience or from attendance on courses designed to provide this, for example the NEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH International General Certificate.

Content

The NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry, focuses on management systems and international standards.   This is reflected in the unit that comprises the qualification.

Entry requirements

The NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate is designed as a specialist sector-specific supplement to the NEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH International General Certificate and NEBOSH recommends that students must hold one of these awards or an equivalent prior to undertaking the Oil and Gas Certificate.

Course materials

ACT has authored and published in conjunction with RMS Publishing a study books for use for the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate.  It reflects the syllabus requirements, contain many supporting photographs and pictures, and sample examination questions.  This reinforces ACT’s standing as a quality provider of the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate course. 

Revision and exam tutorials

Tutorials are organised prior to each examination period and made available to all students as an option.  They cover the examined unit of the qualification, providing an opportunity to revise and consolidate understanding.  The tutorials greatly assist those that need coaching in examination technique and will increase student confidence to complete the written examination, leading to a better pass mark.



Assessment

The qualification is assessed by a single written examination (IOG1).   Examinations take place in March and September.  Study programmes are designed to lead towards these dates.  Examinations for in-house courses can be arranged with NEBOSH on demand, for a date to suit the learning programme.

Classroom based taught courses

Classroom courses provide an opportunity to discuss the topics with other students and the tutor and would suit those that enjoy interaction in a classroom environment.  In particular, it has a number of features that may be helpful to those students who have not done formal study and examinations for some time.

The NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate classroom course involves attendance at a one week face-to-face study period that covers Unit IOG1. 

The study period lead up to the separate examination day, allowing time for private study and to attend the optional revision and examination tutorial period.

Classroom based taught courses are available at our excellent UK venue in the Midlands, international venues or they can be organised as an in-house course in your premises if you have a number of students who need this qualification.
