Guidance on completing your work based practical.
The NEBOSH General and Construction Certificates require successful completion of three elements:
• NGC1 – Management of Health and Safety.
• NGC2/NCC1 – Controlling Workplace Hazards.
• NGC3/NCC2 – Health and Safety Practical
Application.
The aim of the practical assessment is to prove a candidate’s ability to:
i) carry out a safety inspection of a workplace.
ii) prepare a short report that persuades management
to take action.
Excellent coaching in the practical application technique is provided during our session.
This workshop is designed to give candidates the opportunity to discuss the requirements of the practical assignment.
The programme will cover:
• Workplace inspection
o Making safety related observations
o Developing an action plan
o Prioritising actions
o Assigning practical and realistic timescales
• Structure and presentation of the management report
o Developing persuasive arguments
o Relevant legislation
o Cost effectiveness
o Reasonably practicable
• Administration details of the practical assessment
o Dates of the assessment
o Appointment of the invigilator
o Role of the invigilator
