About Us

What we do:

ACT offer audits, consultancy, and training in occupational health, safety, environment and wellbeing. We work with individuals and organisations alike and always endeavour to deliver training and services that are high quality, accessible, informative, and affordable.

ACT was founded in Stourbridge, West Midlands in 1991 by Managing Director Ian Coombes.

Since 1991 we have been delivering our services to the health and safety industry, and in this time, we have continually developed what we have to offer as an organisation.

We partnered with RMS Publishing in 1992 to co-author health and safety textbooks for important topics, essential qualifications, and to aid in the implementation of complex health and safety standards.

At ACT, we are fully committed to helping our customers instil a positive health and safety culture within their organisation, and to help individuals and teams progress their professional development.

Audit

Our audit services are based on a rich history of working with organisations to provide an independent view of company health and safety performance. Our auditors work with the organisation to provide a comprehensive report of what needs to be done to reduce risks, and in turn make the organisation safer.

Our auditors have experience in health and safety from various backgrounds and industries, understand health and safety legislation, and have worked with established standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, HSG65 and organisation specific standards that have been made internally.

Many of our auditors also provide training to our learners. They deliver training from our range of courses including iAS auditing skills courses, and are well versed at providing information in a way that is personable, informative, and appropriate to the level of detail required by the individual or organisation.

Consultancy

Consultancy is very dependent on the needs of the organisation in question, and our health and safety consultants have worked with and for organisations of all shapes and sizes. If you’re looking to improve, update or change the way that you operate in regards to health and safety, hiring a consultant to help you along the way can be a great way to stay compliant with your duties as an employer.

Best suited for Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs):

We provide a competent person service to ensure compliance with requirements, training needs analysis to identify areas to upskill staff, independent confidential incident investigation and a non-biased view of the organisation’s health and safety performance through workplace inspections.

Larger organisations:

Organisations that are larger in scale can benefit from the same services that we offer SMEs but may also benefit from assistance in the implementation of health and safety management standards, such as ISO 45001, an independent review of health and safety performance, or a larger scale version of the training needs analysis. We also deliver in-house training programmes that can help you to upskill or train multiple members of staff while keeping costs down.
